Fiberglass Batts

Fiberglass Batt Insulation

This is the most common form of insulation currently in homes in need of upgrading. Made of Fiberglass and sometimes with a paper backing, the R-value is good at ___ per inch, however with out proper air sealing fiberglass can be greatly downgraded and not perform as needed. In order for batt insulation to properly perform it must be air sealed first! A good use of Batt insulation when dealing with open walls is the “flash and Batt method” By applying a layer of spray foam to outside walls and creating a seal. Batts are then installed to fill the remaining cavity. This keeps costs down, but still provides excellent insulation.
